    • Dual Language/Bilingual Positions: This job posting is for all individuals interested in Dual Language/Bilingual positions in the Providence Public Schools in the 2023-2024 school year. 
    Providence Public Schools is working diligently to secure quality teachers for the 23-24 school year and build strong pools of candidates with bonuses starting at $5,000, in addition to a $2,500 sign-on bonus for signing a contract prior to March 1st. Those who are selected as priority candidates will receive an early hiring contract, contingent on completion of licensure and background check requirements, and will be guaranteed a position in SY22-23. Candidates who receive an Early Hiring Contract must also apply to school-based positions for which they are interested and eligible once they are posted in early March.

    Teaching positions available for the 2023-2024 school year: 

    • Two (2) Spanish DL Grade 3 teachers at Compañeros Harrington: Lynn’s first dual language program at EJ Harrington Elementary School opened in September 2020 with two Kindergarten classrooms. The program expands upward a grade each year, and in 2023-2024 will reach 3rd grade. 

    • Two (2) Spanish DL Grade 1 teachers at Compañeros Connery: Connery is Lynn’s second dual language program that opened in September 2022. Lynn is seeking two first grade teachers to continue our expansion of dual language programming at Connery Elementary.

    Lynn Public Schools is a large urban district north of Boston that serves over 6,000 English Learners. It is home to two Spanish-English 90/10 programs and actively expanding its bilingual program offerings.

    The Western Massachusetts Bilingual Hub at UMass Amherst is hiring a Post Doctoral Research Associate (Bilingual/Dual Language Education) to support implementing research-based bilingual and dual language programs and praxis that sustain bilingualism and multiculturalism for equity, inclusion, and social justice.

    Website Support for Biliteracy Pathway Awards is a grant-funded position overseen by MATSOL with a $1,000 stipend (Jan-Jun 2023). 

    Biliteracy Pathway Awards are given to elementary and middle school students who are developing proficiency in English and an additional language. Coordinated by the Language Opportunity Coalition (LOC), the awards are designed to create a pathway for long-term language learning and prepare students to earn the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy at high school graduation.

    This grant-funded project focuses on updating the coalition’s website to facilitate sharing of resources between educators implementing the awards and improving award data collection. The position may be expanded or extended if additional funding is received. The work can be carried out on a flexible self-paced schedule.

    Tasks: 

    • Working with SOBL Workgroup, update the SealOfBiliteracyMA.org website with new and revised content for Biliteracy Pathway Award implementation.
    • Improve Pathway award data collection: Summarize data from 2019-22; Revise data collection tool (Google Form) for 2023 awards; Do outreach to EL/WL directors to collect Pathway award data.

    Qualifications: 

    • Familiarity with the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy and LOC Biliteracy Pathway Award programs
    • Technical skills: Google Suite (Doc, Forms, Sheets); Creating and editing pages and posts in WordPress
    • Good writing and communication skills
