MABE's Membership Policy

  • MABE's membership subscription period is for one year.
  • Annual membership is only $50.00 USD per person, and can be paid by the prospective member's district/organization, or by themselves.
  • Membership becomes activated once payment is received.
  • Members can log in to their MABE account anytime to check their membership and registration status (accessible by clicking on the icon of a person at the top right of our website).
  • Members are entitled to numerous benefits, including free and reduced price events, and access to member pages and resources. 

  • Members are encouraged to become involved in the organization and board committees.

  • There are various membership groups, as outlined below. 

INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP 

Institutional MABE membership is activated when:

  • an invoice is paid by a district/organization for memberships, OR
  • when membership is associated with event registration (like any of our networks, conferences, or summer institutes)

MABE’s membership fee is included in the general registration (members can register for a free or reduced fee). Once payment is received, Institutional Membership becomes activated for the first day of the event month. Institutional Membershio is open to everyone, and has the same benefits as General Membership. This membership type is updated by MABE staff. 

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP 

General MABE membership is activated when:

  • individuals pay for their own membership, AND
  • membership is not associated with event registration.
General Membership type involves becoming a member by manually initiating or renewing membership at any time. General Membership is open to everyone, and has the same benefits as Institutional Membership. This membership type is updated by individuals. Members are sent email reminders to renew membership a few months prior to their membership expiration date. Membership becomes activated once payment is received.

AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP 

Affiliate Memberships are granted by the Executive Board after petition to MABE - Northeast, Inc. The affiliate identifies and pays for the MABE membership of its selected leaders. The affiliate agrees to support MABE’s mission, vision, and guiding principles to advance the cause of Bilingual Education. Affiliate memberships should become familiar with MABE’s policies and procedures as stated in the bylaws and MABE’s strategic plan. Affiliates are to be renewed every year to remain as active affiliates. The affiliate membership entails becoming an official MABE chapter representing a specific geographical area or organization with similar interests in the northeast region, and are featured in MABE’s website.

Further, MABE pledges to support approved affiliates of MABE in supporting advocacy work within the state, sharing affiliate news and events, and other actions to be determined collaboratively. 

Contact MABE's Executive Director if your organization is interested in becoming an affiliate of MABE. This membership type is updated by MABE staff. 

This membership policy supersedes all previous MABE membership policies (revised August 2024).
