AUDIENCE: Critical Issues for Leaders of Dual Language Education (DLBE) Programs is a professional development series designed for DLBE leaders. Further experience levels may be specified in session descriptions below.
ENSURING SUCCESS OF A DLBE STRAND
This PD will take a look at the foundational pillars necessary for a successful DLBE program. Participants will explore instructional practices and ways to build community and cultures in the program strand within the school. This PD is intended for novice DLBE leaders, or anyone that needs a refresher.

WHAT IS (AND ISN’T) THE SCIENCE OF READING
Local and national mandates have pushed the "Science of Reading" center stage. But what does the term really mean? How can you know whether what you are implementing is the science of reading? This PD will provide an overview of the scope and limitations of the science of reading and practical ideas of how to implement it in the context of DLBE. This PD is intended for novice and experienced DLBE leaders.

This PD will provide background knowledge necessary to center research-based practice and for “quieting the noise” that can arise from different stakeholders’ perspectives. Separating historical context and linguistically sustaining practices from rhetoric will take your DLBE leadership and advocacy to the highest levels of success. This PD is intended for novice and experienced DLBE leaders.
