Dual Language Bilingual Education Programs Taking Root: District Leadership Retreat Sembrando Raíces, or “planting roots,” is a district leadership program planning retreat designed by MABE to facilitate the planning and preparation of high-quality Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) programs. The retreat focuses on understanding the systems and infrastructure needed to launch a successful DLBE program. Sembrando Raíces consists of two days of intensive training and planning for district teams using the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education, The Dual Language Program Planner: A Guide for Designing and Implementing Dual Language Programs, and MABE’s District Readiness Continuum. The goal is for participants to leave with a clear understanding of elements of successful DLBE programs necessary for a strong foundation and the ongoing and continuous planning required by the district leadership to align the commitment to DLBE with the district’s strategic and equity plans.
