    UMass Boston’s Project CREATE seeks a Summer 2024 Instructor to Teach Hybrid Course, "Testing in the Bilingual Classroom."

    Centering Relationships, Equity, and Access for Teachers of English Learners (CREATE) is designed to increase individual, educator, and district capacity to support English Learners in our partner school districts. The program comprises five graduate-level courses with built-in coaching and family and community-centered leadership activities. CREATE builds on an asset- and strengths- based approach that brings together educators, families, and communities to identify optimal ways to support the linguistic, academic, cultural, and emotional needs of English Learners, while promoting social justice and inclusion. 

    CREATE is seeking an instructor for Summer 2024 for the following hybrid course: 

    APLING 670 Testing in the Bilingual Classroom (3 credits) Explores language proficiency testing and other measurement procedures needed in the administration and instruction of multilingual learners including a practical emphasis on alternative and holistic assessment practices. 

    The course is hybrid with the first week on campus and the remaining 3 weeks fully online (on Blackboard). Starting date: June 24th. End date: July 13th 

    Preferred qualifications 

    • An MA or doctoral degree in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Curriculum and Instruction, or similar field;
    • documented good teaching;
    an ability to combine theory and practice in classroom instruction;

    in-depth knowledge about assessment for English Learners and state-wide assessment protocols;
    • experience working in K- 12 EL instruction and/or teacher education for K- 12 EL instructors;
