HOLISTIC BILINGUALISM AND ASSESSMENT
This PD will explore the rationale and process for creating and monitoring biliteracy benchmarks and trajectories based on Literacy from the Start: Literacy Squared In Action's (Escamilla, 2013). Participants will evaluate their own biliteracy assessments and either produce a plan for creating benchmarks or revise their current plan for monitoring the biliteracy growth and development of their DLBE program students.

LET'S TALK ABOUT IT (ORACY ASSESSMENT)
During this interactive PD, participants will explore ways to measure and follow second language oral proficiency. Participants will take a deep dive in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines (Troyan, Adair-Hauck, & Glisan, 2024) and create rubrics to assess oral proficiency in the levels of Novice to Intermediate. Participants will utilize the Can-Do Statements to define benchmarks for oral proficiency. In addition, participants will create an interview protocol for each of the targets and learn how to use this formative assessment to improve instruction. Participants will also discuss ways to communicate progress to families and caregivers as well as methods to collect and store student’s production.

MANUSCRITO - HERRAMIENTA DE EVALUACIÓN DEL DESARROLLO DE LA ESCRITURA EN ESPAÑOL
How do we evaluate Spanish expressive writing using Spanish writing research and Spanish LAS-Links? This PD will respond to questions such as: How do we measure expressive writing in Spanish grades PK-8? How can we as educators effectively encourage creativity and expression in DL young writers while still focusing on Spanish foundational writing skills? How does having Manuscrito help teachers make decisions to analyze writing pieces and then figure out next steps? In this PD, participants will learn how to analyze expressive Spanish writing samples with an authentic tool called Manuscrito.
