Dual Language Education Program District and School Leadership Retreat

Sembrando Raíces is a retreat for district and school leaders committing to Dual Language Education programs in the district and designed to facilitate planning, preparation, and design of new and expanding dual language education programs.

Sembrando Raíces Dual Language Education program leadership planning retreat includes:

  • Intensive training and planning for key stakeholder groups from the district committing to the implementation of a dual language education program.
  • Participants will gain a clear understanding of what is needed for the district to support a high quality dual language education program.
  • Institute is organized around the Guiding Principles of Dual Language Education and MABE District Readiness Continuum tool.
  • Training and facilitation by veteran bilingual and dual language leaders.
  • Ultimate goal, is for the team to leave with a clear understanding of the motivation and necessary supports for implementing a DLE program.

Districts must participate as a team including Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Director of Bilingual and SEI programs,  Principal or Assistant Principal of schools where program may be placed; and a minimum of three other district  support personnel leaders, such as Human Resource Department, Parent Information Center, and Director of Curriculum, Director of Teaching and Learning. Participating teachers may include bilingual teachers, support teachers and non-dual language teachers. Other participants may include parents, board of education members, etc.
