Let’s Talk About It - As seen in MABE 2024 Conference
Facilitator:  Liliana Smith, Spanish Immersion Coordinator, Wayland Public Schools, MA
During this interactive session, participants will explore ways to measure and follow second language oral proficiency. We will take a deep dive in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and create rubrics to assess oral proficiency from Novice to Intermediate Mid. Participants will set these benchmarks for oral proficiency based on Can- do Statements. In addition, participants will create an interview protocol for each of the targets and learn how to use this formative assessment to improve instruction. We will also discuss ways to communicate progress to families and caregivers as well as methods to collect and store student’s production.
This session is intended for teachers, curriculum leaders, and other practitioners interested in setting targets for oral production in DLE programs.
