Collaboration and Co-Teaching in Dual Language education (Dle) Programs: Mindsets and Tools for Multilingual Equity

VIRTUAL PD: Three 2-hour virtual meetings 10:00am - 12:00am on Tuesday, August 15, Wednesday, August 16, and Thursday, August 17. Registrants commit to attending all sessions. Zoom links will be sent out the first week in August.

FACILITATOR: Joan Lachance, Assistant Professor and Director of TESL Minor Program, University of North Carolina

DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this collaborative three-day series is to outline and advocate for pathways leading to teacher collaboration for the sake of English Learners/Multilingual Learners (ELs/MLs) in DLE. Together we’ll use some interactive tools to explore a comprehensive framework for collaborative practices that support ELs/MLs across bilingual and dual language education program (BL/DL) models. We’ll make connections to participants’ contexts to include a range of additional programs such as integrated co-teaching, TBE, and ESL services. Finally, we’ll align our work to the Guiding Principles of Dual Language Education, state education agency guidance, and ways to shift mindsets via policy informed advocacy.
