Your Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) school/program is invited to participate in MABE’s Annual School Visits. School Visits are rewarding and valuable experiences that create the opportunity for educators to observe and learn what DLBE programs look like in practice. Programs and schools at any stage of DLBE implementation are encouraged to open their doors to colleagues. DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18.

Schools interested in serving as hosts for our annual school visits are invited to consider two different formats (can offer both):

GENERAL TOUR: Includes a site tour, a Q&A session, and short, informal visits to multiple classrooms.

SPOTLIGHT LESSON DEMONSTRATION: View as PDF

Available Days: AM and/or PM, Monday-Friday November 2-6 and 16-20, 2026

Sign-Up Information: You will be asked to complete the days and times your school/program can offer a school visit. Feel free to include multiple dates and times that your school is available. Please complete this section to the best of your knowledge, knowing that we will contact you via email to confirm this information. Your participation is not finalized until it has been confirmed by MABE staff.

Alignments: National Dual Language Education Teacher Preparation Standards (NDLETPS, also known as EMMA Standards): Component 3.2 Standards-based Instruction; Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education: Strand 7, Principle 1, Key Point A & Strand 5, Principle 4, Key Point C.

DLBE School Visits (02 Nov 2026)

School Visits are rewarding and valuable pre-conference events that create the opportunity for educators to observe and learn what a Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) program or school looks like in practice. Multiple schools in the area are opening their doors to you on Monday-Friday on November 2-6 and 16-20, 2026.

This year we are offering two types of visits:

General Tours | $50 per visit
Includes a site tour, a Q&A session, and short, informal visits to multiple classrooms.
NOT LISTED YET - COMING SOOON! Spotlight Lesson Demonstrations | $75 per visit
Includes a formal classroom visit with pre- and post-observation discussions. Learn more here.

All school visits are General Tours unless specified to be Spotlight Lesson Demos.

Please note the following:

There are full-day and part-day options – plan to stay for the duration of the time you register for.
Sites are accepting different total number of visitors – some slots will fill up faster than others.
We ask that groups take the opportunity to visit multiple programs, and we request that each district take up no more than two visit spots at a particular site per day. Please create the opportunity for your district's visitors to debrief with each other afterwards, so that multiple people can learn from the visit even if they are unable to attend. Thank you for your understanding as we work to distribute visits equitably amongst multiple states.

MABE Policies:

Registration Policy: Please contact merlynmayhew@mabene.org for group registrations (registrations for a group of individuals from a district/school).
Payment Policy: MABE must receive payment or Purchase Order numbers by the date registration closes.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Event registrations are transferable up to 1 week (7 days) before the event starts. Cancellation refunds of payments will be subject to a 10% reduction of the registration fee, refundable up to 1 week (7 days) before the event starts.
