WHEN & WHERE: This virtual PD takes place throughout two weeks: Week 1, August 3-7 and Week 2, August 10-14. There is a variety of 2-hour Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) Professional Development (PD) offered as morning sessions at 9:30-11:30am and as afternoon sessions at 12:30-2:30pm. Tracks are suggestions to customize your PD - pick and choose from any of the sessions! Customize your PD - pick and choose which sessions you need. Zoom links will be sent out a week prior. AUDIENCE: Summer Institute 2026 Tracks has different tracks for a variety of educators. Identify your track and view suggested sessions: Novice DLBE Leader Track, Veteran DLBE Leader Track, Novice DLBE Teacher Track, Veteran DLBE Teacher Track, DLBE Special Educator Track, Middle School Track, Novice Coach Track, Veteran Coach Track. Tracks are suggestions to customize your PD - pick and choose from any of the sessions!

COST: The registration cost per 2-hours of PD for members is $110. Non-members have an additional one-time $50 charge (for yearly membership fee – learn more about MABE member benefits here). When registering, first select your member status, and then select the sessions you would like to attend.

REGISTRATION: Registration closes Friday, July 24, 2026. Minimum of 10 registrants per session.

Registration Policy: Please contact merlynmayhew@mabene.org for group registrations (registrations for a group of individuals from a district/school).
Payment Policy: MABE must receive payment or Purchase Order numbers by the date registration closes (send to merlynmayhew@mabene.org). Sorry, American Express cards not accepted.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Event registrations are transferable up to 1 week (7 days) before the event starts. Cancellation refunds of payments will be subject to a 10% reduction of the registration fee, refundable up to 1 week (7 days) before the event starts.

Fall 2026 Call for Host Schools (02 Nov 2026)

Your Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) school/program is invited to participate in MABE’s Annual School Visits. School Visits are rewarding and valuable experiences that create the opportunity for educators to observe and learn what DLBE programs look like in practice. Programs and schools at any stage of DLBE implementation are encouraged to open their doors to colleagues. Please sign up by Monday, September 14, 2026.

Schools interested in serving as hosts for our annual school visits are invited to consider two different formats (can offer both):

GENERAL TOUR: Includes a site tour, a Q&A session, and short, informal visits to multiple classrooms.

SPOTLIGHT LESSON DEMONSTRATION: Includes the following:

→ 45-60 minute comprehensive formal classroom visit of a prepared lesson

→ Includes a written lesson plan for observers

→ 20 minute pre- and post-observation conversations with classroom teacher(s)

→ Planning and preparation support and coaching from MABE staff at every step

→ Teacher(s) will be invited to present about their experience at March 2027 MABE Conference

→ Potential to video record (pending permissions) for future learning

Available Days: AM and/or PM, Monday-Friday November 2-6 and 16-20, 2026

Sign-Up Information: You will be asked to complete the days and times your school/program can offer a school visit. Feel free to include multiple dates and times that your school is available. Please complete this section to the best of your knowledge, knowing that we will contact you via email to confirm this information. Your participation is not finalized until it has been confirmed by MABE staff.

Alignments: National Dual Language Education Teacher Preparation Standards (NDLETPS, also known as EMMA Standards): Component 3.2 Standards-based Instruction; Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education: Strand 7, Principle 1, Key Point A & Strand 5, Principle 4, Key Point C.
